Poets & Politics in DTLA
This week we return to an old Writ Large Press stomping ground — DTLA. Of course, downtown Los Angeles is the site of many of our past events and experiments — #90X90LA, DTLABODEGA, Grand Park BookFest.
Peter Woods is curating, producing & hosting Race, Politics & Poetics this Thursday night (12/8) at The Los Angeles Theatre Center (LATC) on Spring Street. Featuring San Francisco Poet Laureate Tongo Eisen-Martin, poet & publisher Viva Padilla, Alyesha Wise & Matt Sedillo, it’s going to be powerful and amazing.
The aim of this reading series is present the work of these titans, engage listeners around race relations in our City of Los Angeles (a timely matter, wouldn't you say) and to discuss the role of poetry in shaping identity statements as well as building bridges between the Black and Brown Community.
